This book makes a description of the Mirage aircraft project and political issues.

Few combat aircraft since the Second World War succeeded so fully in so many variant forms as the Mirage. Few have played so great a ’political’ role both inside and outside their country of origin. Few have had such an extended life span in the very forefront of aeronuatical progress.
For France who built it, The Mirage has been a commercial and political weapon of immense power. For Israel it has been, at times a lifeline, at times something very close to a hangman's noose around her neck. With the Mirage, de Gaulle became the dispenser of untold power, much of it to selectd countries of the Third World including several in South America, yet it was his embargo on 50 Mirages constructed for Israel that played a significant part in his own irrevocable fall from power.
