Weinig gebouwen in België spreken zo tot de verbeelding als de iconische Skyhall op Brussels Airport. Dit stuk luchtvaartpatrimonium groeide uit tot een symbool van het vooruitgangsoptimisme van de jaren vijftig, dat zijn hoogtepunt kende met Expo 58. Alles wat ons land toen aan de wereld wilde tonen, komt samen in de Skyhall: architectonische durf, artistiek lef, technisch vernuft en een doordacht gebruik van nieuwe materialen.

Het was evident dat dit pareltje van het naoorlogse modernisme in België voor latere generaties bewaard moest blijven.. Daarom besliste Brussels Airport Company om dit emblematische gebouw in zijn oorspronkelijke luister te herstellen en te voorzien van de modernste technologie. En zo werd de Skyhall een van de mooiste evenementhallen van Europa.

Peu de bâtiments situés en Belgique frappent autant l'imagination que l'emblématique Skyhall, à Brussels Airport. Ce patrimoine de l'aviation s'est mué en symbole du progrès des années cinquante, avec, comme point d'orgue, l'Expo 58. Tout le savoir-faire que notre pays voulait montrer au monde y est réuni : audace architecturale, courage artistique, ingéniosité technique et utilisation réfléchie de nouveaux matériaux.

Ce joyau du modernisme d'après-guerre en Belgique devait à l'évidence être préservé pour les générations futures. C'est pourquoi Brussels Airport Company a décidé de redonner à ce bâtiment typique sa splendeur d'origine et de le doter des dernières technologies. C'est ainsi que le Skyhall s'est transformé en l'un des plus beaux halls événementiels d'Europe.

Few buildings in Belgium appeal to the imagination as much as the iconic Skyhall at Brussels Airport. This piece of aviation heritage grew into a symbol of the future optimism of the 1950s, which had its culmination in Expo 58. Everything our country wanted to present to the world came together in the Skyhall: architectural daring, artistic courage, technical ingenuity and a well-considered use of new materials.

It was evident that this gem of post-war modernism in Belgium had to be preserved for later generations. That's why Brussels Airport Company decided to restore this emblematic building to its original splendour and provide it with the latest technology. And that's how the Skyhall became one of the most beautiful events venues in Europe.
