Description
Introduction
The intent of the Guide is to facilitate rapid identification by amateur observers of commonly observed airport airplanes. Virtually all airplanes flown by major airlines* are included in the Guide.
Although the Guide may be browsed, it is designed to be used as follows :
1) Turn to page vi to find the group to which the unknown plane belongs. Groups are based on engine number, type, and location on each plane, and the point at which wings are attached to each plane's fuselage.
2) Turn to the page number indicated. This is the first page for each group.
3) Follow the directions to find the subgroup to which the unknown plane belongs.
4) Use the distinguishing characteristics listed under the " Look - alike " section for each plane to tell it from other planes in its subgroup. Note that the " Look - alike " section is not intended to be used to distinguish individual planes from all others in the Guide.
