The author
Peter M. Bowers, 44, has been dedicated to aviation since before Lindbergh flew the Atlantic in 1927. Given his first airplane ride as a 10th birthday present in 1928, he has been flying continually as a passenger or pilot over since. An intensive hobby of model airplane designing and building led to a sideline career as a magazine writer when the editors of model airplane publications began asking for plans and articles, about his outstanding models. His first article appeared in Air Tailes in 1938, and his writing on technical and hisotrical aviation subjects continues for several national publications and now includes his own books.
