Description

The 311 (Czechoslovak) Bomber Squadron, formed in the summer of 1940, achieved the distinction of being the only Czechoslovak bomber squadron serving in the RAF. Its Czechoslovak crews flew Wellington twin-engine bombers on raids to occupied Europe, Germany, and Italy, and achieved much success but with high losses. In 1942, the squadron transferred to Coastal Command to fight in the Battle of the Atlantic. In 1943, they were reequipped to fight in the Battle of the Atlantic. Illustrated by many rare b&w archive photographs in addition to superb colour illustrations of aircraft camouflage and markings. Essential reading for all aviation enthusiasts, aviation historians & scale aero-modelers.
